2.6.6. FTP security

Security management FTP is performed in the section "Hosting → Safety»:

Security settings allow you to restrict access to the contents of the disk space of the hosting account by FTP via FTPclients.

The section consists of several blocks:

Enabling / disabling access restrictions and adding IP addresses is performed in the upper block "List of allowed IPs for access by FTP»:

The current status of access restrictions is displayed next to the block name:

  • Green status "included"- means that access restrictions are currently enabled and access by FTP possible only from IP addresses that are in list of allowed.
  • Red status "turned off"- means that access restrictions are currently disabled and access by FTP possible from any IP address.

Status management is performed using a checkmark opposite “Allow access to FTP only from the addresses specified in the list»:

  • The checkbox is checked - access restriction is enabled or will be enabled after clicking "Save».
  • The checkmark is unchecked - access restriction is disabled or will be disabled after clicking "Save».

Addresses from which access must be allowed are entered into the address list. Each address is indicated on a new line. Possible options for recording addresses:

  • IP address in the format IPv4 (eg, 193.178.34.14).
  • Network address in the format CIDR (eg, 193.178.34.0/24).
  • Network address in the form 193.178.34.0/255.255.255.0.
  • IP address in the format IPv6 or network address (for example, 2001:67c:2070::1 or 2001:67c:2070::/64).

Important points

  • It is not possible to add an IP address with a mask less than 20.
  • Can't add LAN IP addresses. Please note if the IP address you are adding starts as: 192.168.*.*, 10.*.*.*, 172.16.*.*, 127.*.*.*where * - any numbers, then these are the addresses of the local network. To find the external IP address, use the tool IP definitions.

Block "Instructions"Contains your current IP address, address and name of your network, as well as a short instruction on how to add addresses:

By clicking on "Add IP to the allowed list" or "Add network to the list of allowed»Can be quickly added to list_addresses your current IP address or your network address. Once added, the list of addresses will be automatically saved.

In the block "IP addresses from which connection via FTP»Already added IP addresses are displayed:

An arbitrary note can be added to each address. The delete button can be used to remove an address from the list.
