The article describes the procedure for connecting to hosting by SFTP via FTP-client FileZilla.

Before connecting

Make sure the following requirements are met:

  • The IP from which the connection will be made has been added to the list of allowed in SSH security settings.
  • At least 15-30 minutes have passed since the IP was added to the allowed list.

To connect to your hosting using SFTP using FileZilla, do the following:

  1. Open the section "File → Site Manager…»:
  2. Click "New website»:
  3. Fill in the fields on the "General»:
    • «Protocol"- select"SFTP - SSH File Transfer Protocol».
    • «Host"- specify the host from data to connect over SSH.
    • «Port"- specify the port 22.
    • «Login type"- select"Normal».
    • «User"- specify the login from data to connect over SSH.
    • «Password"- enter the password from data to connect over SSH.
  4. On the tab “Encoding"Set the switch opposite to"UTF-8 forced" and press "Connect" or "OK»:
  5. If a warning about an unknown key is displayed, it means that the server's host key is not in the FileZilla cache (this is typical for the first connection) or has changed (for example, due to transferring the hosting account to another server). To prevent the warning from being displayed every time you connect, check the box next to “Always trust this host, add the key to the cache". To connect, click "OK»:
