Registration Data Access Protocol (RDAP) is a new registration data access protocol that replaces the outdated whois. As with whois, RDAP can be used to obtain information about domain names, IP addresses, and autonomous systems.
Unlike whois, RDAP:
provides registration data in a structured manner
works over a secure connection
makes it possible to provide differentiated access to registration data
